Doug Sheehy has been performing, teaching, and promoting music in northeastern California for over thirty years and in a variety of environments. He first played in Quincy, CA. back in his college days and has returned frequently in the following years. Lots of nationwide roadwork and performances with an astonishing array of configurations of musicians and styles ensued and he now settles in the Quincy area. He has and continues to accompany and perform with such notable musicians as Hoyt Axton, Country Joe Macdonald, Jim Stafford, The Coasters and The Drifters. He developed a " Performed History of American Music " that he presents to Plumas and Lassen County schools and began teaching music history, theory and appreciation at Lassen Community College some twenty years ago while he continued his performance and promoting adventures. Sheehy organized and supervised summer music camps for several years with area teenagers, exposing them to recording studios, agents, college music facilities, first class performance venues etc. to give them a real look at the world of music.

"One of the most fulfilling musical experiences of my life" Sheehy says as he reflects on his association with Scattered Blue, an all original band of talented area musicians. Some time ago, Plumas Arts Commission Director, Roxanne Valladao, invited Doug to be guest artist for her Words and Music programand in the process got him involved with The Lassen County Arts Council. Doug quickly brought Words and Music to Susanville, CA. and became a passionate and hard working advocate of the arts in Lassen County. In fact, Mr. Sheehy was formerly the president of the Arts Council. Along with his teaching duties, both at the college and with private students, Doug is performing with a host of ensembles of which the most exciting and rewarding is the music he makes with his daughter Meg. She is a recent graduate of S.F. State with a degree in vocal performance. " I have literally seen people stop in their tracks and turn their heads to see where that beautiful sound is coming from when they hear her sing " says Sheehy in praise of his daughter. Having developed a large network of musical associates, Doug is able to assemble groups of varying sizes and styles. The music he presents ranges form the classic jazz standards of Ellington and Armstrong to the most current sounds of rock and roots music. He has demonstrated that he can literally learn anything. So make your move and enjoy a world of music with Doug Sheehy and Friends.
